The American Legion And Oak Ridge Boys Team Up To Help Address Veteran Needs With PTSD

Did you know that the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) estimates that upwards of 20 percent of veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are confronting post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)? To help assist veterans and their families, The American Legion is launching a national awareness campaign to shine a spotlight on this issue.

The first installment of this campaign will be a public service announcement (PSA) that will focus on the mental health needs of veterans, particularly those who are battling the signature wounds of today’s war era: PTSD and traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Lending their support and featured in this PSA will be Grammy Award-winning country music group Oak Ridge Boys.

The American Legion and Oak Ridge Boys are united in their hope that this PSA will help raise awareness and support for the needs of U.S. military veterans, including better detection and treatment of PTSD, help with the VA benefits process, as well as education and career opportunities for those who served our nation in uniform.
