Marquette – Marquette Maritime Museum will present “Pirates, Crooks and Killers: The Dark Side of Sailing the Great Lakes” by Fred Storehouse on Tuesday, December 12 at 7 p.m. in the Shiras Room at the Peter White Public Library.
The Great Lakes never had swashbuckling pirates like those who swept the Caribbean seas, but there were low-lifes willing to rob and pillage when the opportunity presented itself. Others were not above “moon cussing” or showing false lights to lure ships to wreck on inshore reefs where they pillaged the cargos and murdered the crews.
Everyone is welcome to the presentation to learn more of Great Lakes maritime history. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
