One Book Events Planned Around ‘Wolf’s Mouth’

The following September events are free and open to the public:

Marquette, MI – NMU’s Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center will host “Dollar-A-Day Boys: A musical tribute to the Civilian Conservation Corps featuring Bill Jamerson” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the Ore Dock Brewing Company. The camps built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930s were often used as POW camps.

Smolens will give a presentation at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the Ishpeming Carnegie Library.

A field trip to the former site of a World War II POW camp in Au Train will take place from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23. Smolens and Dan Redmond will lead the field trip. Register online at nmu.edu/onebook/2017-news.

A documentary presentation and panel discussion is scheduled from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, at Peter White Public Library. John Pepin will discuss his film, The Enemy in our Midst. Larry Chabot will address the U.P.’s CCC camps and Gary Asano will talk about his parents’ experience in a Japanese Internment Camp. A Q&A will follow.
