Test Strips for Cancer Detection Get Upgraded with Nanoparticle Bling

Detecting cancer could be as easy as a home pregnancy test. However, commercially available test strips are not sensitive enough to detect the very low concentrations of cancer biomarkers in blood. Platinum-coated gold nanoparticles developed by a team led by Michigan Tech researchers could change that to make cheap and simple test strip detection a reality.

The research was published in Nano Letters recently and you can read the full news release on Michigan Tech’s news website.
