Ishpeming – The Alger/Marquette National Alliance on Mental Illness will host a NAMIWalk on Saturday, September 23 beginning with a short walk at 11 a.m. and a picnic at noon at the Al Quaal Recreation Area in Ishpeming.
For the picnic, sloppy joes and sub sandwiches will be provided. Bring food of your own if you wish. The Solidarity Strollers invite the community to participate and show support to the local NAMI efforts. The funds raised will go to support training for mental health programs they offer free of charge, like “Family-to-Family” and “Homefront”.
NAMIWalks is the largest and most successful mental health fundraising and awareness event in America. Through NAMIWalks’ public, active display of support for people affected by mental illness, we are changing how Americans view individuals with a mental illness and ensuring that help and hope are available for those in need.
