Structure Fire in Ishpeming

Ishpeming, MIMarch 29, 2017 – Yesterday, March 28, at 4:04 pm, the City of Ishpeming Fire Department was called to a structure fire at 571 Jasper Street in the City of Ishpeming by Marquette County Central Dispatch. Upon arrival, fire crews found flames and heavy smoke coming from the first floor northwest corner of the structure. Fire crews quickly knocked down the fire, and remained on scene for 1 ½ hours moping up hot spots. There was fire, smoke and water damage to the home, the structure was insured according to the owner Tim Lloyd-Lee of Ishpeming. The occupants Joseph Dupras and Natasha Moore were not home at the time of the fire.

Assisting at the scene were the City of Negaunee Fire Department, Marquette County 131 Rescue, and Ishpeming Police Department, UPPCO and SEMCO also assisted on scene.

The American Red Cross and Pigs & Heat are both offering assistance to the home’s occupants. Fire crews cleared the scene at 16:50. No injuries were reported. The fire remains under investigation at this time. The Michigan State Police Fire Marshall Division was called in to assist with the fire investigation.
