Marquette – Vertigo Theatre will present “An Evening in the Park” on Thursday, March 23 at 7 p.m., Friday, March 24 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 25 at 2 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.
The first one-act play, “The Zoo Story” by Edward Albee, is set on a park bench in New York City’s Central Park. It opens as Jerry, a man in his thirties, says to Peter, a slightly older man reading a book, “I’ve been to the zoo.” “Grannies” by Jean McConnell, the second one-act play, part of her fourth Deckchairs series of plays, is set at the seaside. It features two grandmothers, Jenny, reluctantly looking after her teenage daughter’s child, and Barbara, desperately in love with her grandchild.
Tickets are $10 and on sale at the circulation desk at the library, or by phone with a credit card at 228-9510. Seating is general with doors opening 30 minutes prior to each performance.
