Marquette – The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will host a talk on the Gordo Site on Thursday, November 3 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in room 115 of the Jacobetti Complex in Marquette.
A court-ordered draw-down of the Deer Lake Basin provided an opportunity to complete an archaeological survey of its shores, which led to the discovery of a late Paleo-Indian site. The presentation on what became known as the Gordo Site will provide a glimpse into this previously unknown time period in the Upper Peninsula.
Attendance is $3 for NCLL members and $8 for non-members. Register by October 30 by calling 227-2979. For more information, contact Judy Ashby at 250-4302 or jashby@nmu.edu.
