Harvey – The Upper Peninsula Land Conservancy and the Chocolay Bayou Preserve will host a celebration of the new Chocolay Bayou Preserve on Saturday, September 10 beginning at 8 a.m. at the Chocolay River Brewery in Harvey.
There will be a hike, presentations, a tour of the Chocolay Raptor Center, a canoe and kayak flotilla, and a dedication ceremony, followed by a barbecue with live music at 7 p.m. at the Chocolay River Brewery and Restaurant.
The Bayou Preserve is nearly 13 acres of mixed wetland and dry forest ridges located between Marquette and Harvey. The protection of the Preserve sets aside the Chocolay River Bayou for the benefit of the community, both natural and human.
