TAKE A VET FISHING and the CITY OF GLADSTONE, MI DEVELOP PARTNERSHIP TO BRING

THE 1ST “DAY OF GIVING BACK” EVENT TO MICHIGAN TO SUPPORT MILITARY VETERANS.

Bartlett, Illinois. – Take a Vet Fishing (TAVF) in partnership with the Bays de Noc Convention and Visitors Bureau are pleased to announce on July 17, 2016, the “A Day of Giving Back” fishing program will make their first visit to Michigan in the city of Gladstone. This event is meant to celebrate the sacrifices made by our nation’s Veterans and their families. Veterans, volunteer guides, and event volunteers will have an opportunity to register online to participate in this event at www.TakeaVetFishing.org . This will be the third stop for TAVF during the 2016 season, as they would have already completed events at Fox Lake, IL and Lake Waubesa, Madison, WI. TAVF will conclude their season with visits to Hillsport, Ontario Canada, Mille Lacs, MN and Lake Minnetonka, MN.

Take a Vet Fishing (TAVF) was established in 2011 to provide active and reserve military service members and Veterans emotional support and rehabilitation by way of Piscatorial Therapy (commonly referred to as Fishing Therapy). The slogan, “A Day of Giving Back” is the core of Take a Vet Fishing’s mission and serves as a day of giving back to our nation’s heroes. Approximately twenty percent of the 2.3 million veterans returning from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and/or depression. Most of them will struggle to ask for assistance. Take a Vet Fishing is a Not-For-Profit 501 (c)3 organization created to help fight and bring awareness to PTSD and depression. With the assistance of volunteer guides and mentors, Take a Vet Fishing provides guided fishing outings and a venue for veterans to socially interact with each other as a way to share their story and reconnect with fellow Veterans.
