Marquette – This Event Has Been Cancelled – IIyasah Shabazz, daughter of Malcolm X and Betty Shabazz, will give a presentation, as part of Black History Month, on Monday, February 8 at 7 p.m. in 1100 Jamrich Hall at Northern Michigan University.
Shabazz is a community organizer, social activist, motivational speaker and author of “Growing Up X” She promotes higher education, interfaith dialogue and building bridges between cultures for young leaders of the world. Shabazz also serves on the Board of the Harlem Symphony Orchestra, is a member of the Arts Committee for the New York City Opera at Lincoln Center and was a project advisor for the PBS award-winning documentary, “Prince Among Slaves.”
This presentation is hosted by NMU’s Black Student Union and funded by the student activity fee. Admission is free and open to the public.
