A Walk, Snowshoe or Cross Country Ski Treasure Hunt will be held on Sunday, January 20 from noon to 2:30 p.m.in conjunction with the Heikki Lunta Festival and Keski-Talven Juhlat (Mid-Winter Festivities). Geocaching is an outdoor fitness activity that combines hiking with the use of hand held GPS units to find “treasure”. This free event is for both novices and GPS veterans. GPS units will be provided. Instructions will be provided by Negaunee Middle School Staff/Students. The schedule is as follows: Noon to 12:45 p.m. Geocache instructions. 12:45 to 1:30p.m. Novice hike to sample cache. 1:30p.m. GPS Coordinates Provided/Hunt Begins! 2:30p.m. Event ends with Prize Distribution. 5 Prizes: $100 Wal-MArt Gift Card/Pedometer from MC Sports/$50 in Jewelry from Teal Lake Designs/I Love Negaunee T-Shirts (Booster Club)/Negaunee Sesquicentennial Coins. A limited number of snowshoes are available for free loan courtesy of the Noquemanon Trail Network's Blue Shoe Program.
