Michigan Inland Lakes Convention set for April in Boyne Falls – Oct. 13

Boyne Falls, MichiganOctober 13, 2015 – The 2016 Michigan Inland Lakes Convention, “Science and Leadership: A Formula for Successful Lake Protection and Management,” will be held April 28-30 at Boyne Mountain Resort in Boyne Falls. This biennial convention is a great opportunity for lake enthusiasts, professionals, researchers, local government officials and others interested in protecting Michigan’s water resources.

The 2016 Michigan Inland Lakes Convention is expected to draw more than 400 people and dozens of exhibitors. Included in the three-day event will be plenary addresses, workshops, concurrent sessions on a wide range of topics, receptions, door prizes and various networking opportunities. The plenary addresses will feature Rebecca Williams, reporter and producer of Michigan Radio’s “The Environment Report,” and David Mifsud, herpetologist, wetland ecologist and owner of Herpetological Resource and Management.

Interested in helping make this upcoming convention a success? The Michigan Inland Lakes Partnership invites interested individuals or groups to propose a presentation, workshop or topical session. To do so, presenters should submit the title and a short abstract describing their proposed topic for one of three options: a 30-minute presentation, a three-hour workshop (to be held Thursday, April 28, only), or a 90-minute concurrent session with three to four speakers (organized by the presenter) with a common theme. The deadline for workshop proposals is Friday, Oct. 30; presentation and session abstracts are due by Friday, Nov. 20.

For more information on the convention and details regarding the call for abstracts, visit michiganlakes.msue.msu.edu. Registration for the convention will begin in January 2016.
