Marquette, Michigan – September 17, 2015 – Conor Mcpherson’s award winning play, The Weir, is Irish to the core. You will feel like you are in the pub with Jack, Brendan, Jimmy, Finbar, and Valerie, as they tell tales of fairies, ghosts and the road not taken.
The Vertigo Theatre production of this modern Irish classic has been several years in the planning, and it will show in the total immersion experience audiences will enjoy in the Peter White Community Room Sept. 24 and 25 at 7 p.m. and Sept. 26 at 2 p.m.. Tickets are available in advance $7.50. No tickets will be sold at the door. For information phone (906) 228-9510.
According to cast member B.G. Bradley, some of the finest actors in the area including Jeff Spencer, Monica Nordeen, John Sarkela and Patrick Leo Bradley are featured in the cast.
“You’ll get the full on Irish experience,” said Bradley,” with all the pathos and comedy, all the heart and soul and talk of the land that entails.” Bradley added that the experience is further enhanced by the thoroughly authentic set and the masterful direction; both expertly accomplished by technical and production director Marty Martello.
The play is set in a rural Irish pub where the local men swap tales of the supernatural to impress a young woman from Dublin who recently moved to a “haunted” house in town. The tables are soon turned when she spins a yard of her own.
