Calendar – Education – UNITED Conference Presentation on the Desegregation of Baseball – Sept. 22

Marquette – Northern Michigan University will hold its annual Uniting Neighbors in the Experience of Diversity (UNITED) Conference Saturday, September 19 through Tuesday, September 29. UNITED is composed of a broad range of presentations, musical performances and film.

Retired sociology professor Terry Rodenberg will talk about how sports, the desegregation of baseball and the Negro Leagues changed society, as well as what is happening to African American baseball players today. His presentation will be on Tuesday, September 22 at 2 p.m. in the Great Lakes Rooms of the University Center.

UNITED is designed to “inform the NMU and greater Marquette area of different perspectives and points of view, with the ultimate goal of helping people think differently about diversity and inclusion.”
