Calendar – Education – Old Books: Trash or Treasure – July 16-17

Negaunee – Michigan historian Larry Massie will present “Old Books: Trash or Treasure? The Lore of Book Collecting” on Saturday, July 16 and Sunday, July 17 at 1:30 p.m. each day at the Michigan Iron Industry Museum, 73 Forge Road in Negaunee Township.

Massie will discuss what makes one old book a valuable collector’s item while another is practically worthless. He will illustrate his points with a large display of books from his own 35,000 volume collection. After his talk, Massie will evaluate books, pamphlets or other printed material brought in by audience members, with a limit of two items per person.

The events are free, but donations are requested to benefit museum programs. Seating is limited. For more information, call 475-7857 or visit www. michigan,gov/ironindustrymuseum.
