A Mother’s Heart in Words, Essay Contest 2015

A yearly essay contest, celebrating the joys, the challenges, and the absolute irreplaceable role of a mother, with essays told from each mother’s story and through their own words.

This contest is open to local mothers of every age. Please submit an essay that is up to 500 words. Feel free to write about what motherhood means to you, an area of motherhood that you feel needs to be spoken about, or a personal story about your journey as a mother.

There will be three winning essays chosen. The Grand Prize will be a Mother’s Day Pendant and Kelly Gilligan Silver Heart Charm from Beth Millner Jewelry (valued at $360). The winning essay will also be featured on www.birthedinjoy.com and published in the Marquette Mining Journal.

Additional prizes are being provided by the Marquette Food Co-op and Birthed in Joy, Doula Services.

Email essays to: Melinda@birthedinjoy.com by April 30, 2015. Winners will be announced on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10, 2015.

Sending a photo with your essay is encouraged; please keep in mind your photo will likely be used if you have one of the winning essays.
