Transition Marquette County Reading Group Conversation about the Novel “Flood”, by Stephen Baxter, on Thursday, April 9

Marquette, MI – The Transition Marquette County Reading Group will hold a conversation about the novel “Flood”, by Stephen Baxter, on Thursday, April 9, at 7pm in the Conference Room at Peter White Public Library in Marquette.

What if instead of centimeters per year, a meter or two by the end of the century, sea level rose at 12, 20, 40 meters per year, 800 to 1000 meters by 2050? Four hostages released in the opening pages pledge to stay connected, but in this new world it becomes more and more difficult as humanity scrambles for the high ground. Science? Fiction? Allegory? Metaphor? Prophecy? A novel of humanity’s final years on earth, “Flood” tells the story of a small group of people caught up in the struggle to survive unimaginable global disaster.

Anyone is welcome to join the conversation. It would help to have at least started to read one of the books. For more information call 226-3314 or email mqtchaz@gmail.com.
