Marquette – Northern Michigan University’s music department will present a high-definition screening of the London Royal Ballet’s production of “Manon” by Kenneth MacMillan on Sunday, April 12 at 5 p.m. in the Jamrich Hall Auditorium on the NMU campus.
The screening will utilize state-of-the-art video and audio technology. “Manon” is based on an 18th century novel and set in Paris. It is a tragic love story about a beautiful young woman who falls prey to moral corruption as she is torn between the man she loves and her desire for wealth and luxury. The ballet features music composed by Jules Massenet.
An afterglow with free pizza will follow the presentation. Admission to the showing is free to NMU students, $5 for 18 and under and $15 for the general public, with tickets available for purchase at the door. For more information, contact the NMU music department at music@nmu.edu or 227-2563.
