Science on Tap Series Continues at the Ore Dock

The second event in the new Science on Tap casual lecture series will be titled “How Much Fat Can a Fat Bike Bust? Mythbusting Tall Tales of Caloric Burn and Exercise.” Scott Drum and Phil Watts, health and human performance professors at Northern Michigan University, will be the co-presenters. The event starts at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at the Ore Dock Brewing Company. Admission is free.

Drum and Watts will compare how myths related to caloric burn when snow biking and ultra-distance running, as illustrated in popular magazines, compare with scientific data and research.

“Science on Tap” is a monthly pub series that features informal 20-30 minute presentations geared toward the general public and delivered by local scientists based on their research or areas of expertise. It is organized by the NMU chapter of Sigma Xi-The Scientific Research Society and hosted by the Ore Dock.
