MARQUETTE, MI November 11, 2014 — Author and journalist Charlie LeDuff will speak at Northern Michigan University tomorrow night about his book, “Detroit: An American Autopsy.” The presentation and reading will begin at 7 p.m. in the University Center Great Lakes Rooms. “Detroit” was the featured selection for this year’s One Book, One Community program. The event is free and open to the public. A Q&A session with students originally scheduled at 1 p.m. will not be held.
LeDuff is a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter who has worked with such outlets as The New York Times and the Detroit News. His book explores the past and future of what was once the richest city in America through the eyes of a Michigan-raised journalist. Following the strong, yet strange characters found only in Motown, the author makes comical the absurdity of 21st century American life and makes hopeful Detroit’s redemption.
