Marquette, MI – Lives and health of thousands of uninsured Upper Peninsula residents of all ages are improved every year as a result of generous health
care professionals, medical institutions and myriad community-spirited
individuals and organizations that recognize the need and take action
to give their neighbors and friends access to health care services
regardless of their ability to pay.
U.P. Health Access Coalition recognizes such selfless acts on behalf
of the uninsured each spring with its annual “Hero for the Uninsured” Awards. UPHAC will accept nominations of deserving 2012 “Hero” candidates through Friday, March 9.
A “Hero” Awardees nomination form and guidelines for qualifying candidates are available on UPHAC’s web site – www.uphealthaccess.org. Information is also available from the UPHAC office in Escanaba – call 906.233.0210 or e-mail
uphac@uphealthaccess.org .
Tell UPHAC and the entire U.P. community how health care providers, human services agencies and other organizations and individuals in your area are making a difference for uninsured neighbors and “improving health care in the U.P., one ‘Hero’ at a time.”
The 2012 “Hero for the Uninsured” Awards Dinner will be Thursday evening, May 10, in Marquette at Upfront & Co. Keynote speaker will be cardiologist Thomas LeGalley, MD, of Marquette. The dinner is open to the public; reservation information will be announced in early spring.
