Marquette – Sports physicist John Eric Goff will present “Great Science of Great Sports at the World Cup and Tour de France” on Monday, October 27 at 7 p.m. in room 2906 of the West Science Building at Northern Michigan University.
Goff, professor at Lynchburg College in Virginia, will discuss such topics as the differences, from a physics standpoint, between the soccer balls used in the 2014 Brazilian World Cup and the 2010 South African World Cup. He will also dive into the caloric output of a Tour de France bicyclist in terms of fast-food hamburgers.
