Marquette Food Co-op Events in October and November

MARQUETTE – Book Signing and New Holland Tasting with Fred Bueltmann, author of Beervangelist’s Guide to the Galaxy: A Philosophy of Food and Drink Friday, October 10; 4:00 – 5:00 pm at the Marquette Food Co-op. Free to everyone. Questions call 225-0671 ext. 725 Fred Bueltmann, co-owner of New Holland Brewing Company, believes in the power of food and beer together. His new cookbook offers a philosophy of pairing that puts flavor first in the conversation about what tastes good together and why. Taste favorite New Holland brews and cheeses with Fred while he signs your book!

Louise Berndt will once again share the secrets of a Northern Italian meal, preparing recipes commonly prepared in Venetian homes. Louise will guide participants through the dishes of a complete meal, from appetizer to dessert.

Participants in this class will learn about the varieties of winter squash that do well in the U.P., tips for growing and seed saving, and of course, cooking with squash. Discover how versatile this fall and winter staple food can be.

Food For Change: The Story of Cooperation in America Thursday, October 30; 6pm in the Co-op Classroom. Free to everyone. For questions call 225-0671 ext. 725. Join us for popcorn and a movie! Food For Change is a feature-length documentary film focusing on food co-ops as a force for dynamic social and economic change in American culture.
