Autumn volunteer stewardship days

All ages are invited to enjoy the fall colors while helping to preserve natural areas during volunteer stewardship workdays at Michigan state parks and recreation areas. No experience is necessary and DNR staff will provide all necessary training to have a great and productive day outdoors.

  • Southeasten Michigan
    -Saturday, Oct. 4: Waterloo Recreation Area (Jackson), 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • -Saturday, Oct. 11: Bald Mountain Recreation Area (Oakland), 9 a.m.-noon
  • -Sunday, Oct. 12: Sterling State Park (Monroe), 1-4 p.m.
  • -Saturday, Oct. 18: Belle Isle Park (Wayne), 9 a.m.-noon
  • -Sunday, Oct. 19: Sterling State Park (Monroe), 1-4 p.m.
  • -Saturday, Oct. 25: Highland Recreation Area (Oakland), 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • -Saturday, Oct. 25: Brighton Recreation Area (Livingston), 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • -Sunday, Oct. 26: Algonac State Park (St. Clair), 1-4 p.m.
  • Southwestern Michigan
    -Saturday, Oct. 4: Fort Custer Recreation Area (Kalamazoo), 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • -Sunday, Oct. 5: Saugatuck Dunes State Park (Allegan), 1-4 p.m.
  • -Saturday, Oct. 11: Fort Custer Recreation Area (Kalamazoo), 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • -Sunday, Oct. 12: Ludington State Park (Mason), 1-4 p.m.
  • -Wednesday, Oct. 15: Muskegon State Park (Muskegon), 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • -Saturday, Oct. 18: Yankee Springs Recreation Area (Barry), 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • -Sunday, Oct. 19: Fort Custer Recreation Area (Kalamazoo), 1-4 p.m.
  • -Saturday, Oct. 25: Fort Custer Recreation Area (Kalamazoo), 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • -Sunday, Oct. 26: Warren Dunes State Park (Berrien), 1-4 p.m.

Volunteers should bring work gloves, drinking water and appropriate clothing for outdoor work, including long pants and sturdy, closed-toe shoes.
