MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN – Readers Theater welcomes the public to join in a reading of “Ring Round the Moon” by Jean Anouilh on Thursday, July 17 at 7:00pm in the Peter White Public Library Shiras Room.
The evening’s script is an adaptation of Jean Anouilh’s comedy centering on Cinderella at a lavish ball where twin brothers, played by the same actor, woo her amid all sorts of identity confusions.
A theatre work of wit and style, the first production of “Ring Round the Moon” was given at the Globe Theatre and starred Paul Scofield and Claire Bloom.
Jean Anouilh was a French playwright whose 50 year career produced work ranging from drama to farce. He is best known for his 1943 play, Antigone, based on the work of Sophocles.
Readers Theater is a group of adults who are interested in drama and are willing and able to read a scripted role. They meet on the third Thursday of each month to read plays for enjoyment. New readers are always welcome
