New Fundraising Event Promotes Re-Use Over Refuse June 14th

MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN – Redo: View & Brew is an up-cycling furniture contest to benefit Marquette County Habitat for Humanity. The event will take place on Saturday, June 14 from 2-4 pm. We have 10 contestants and their charge is to take a piece of furniture that is old (ideally something ugly/uninteresting/un-functional) and up-cycle into something beautiful! Pieces will be on display at the Ore Dock Brewing Co. where attendees can pay $10 and receive one drink ticket, fancy snacks and the ability to vote for their fan favorite. A Judge’s Panel has been convened, and they will award a winner as well. All proceeds will go towards Marquette County Habitat for Humanity.

The event has several goals, including promoting re-using old furniture instead of trashing it, and also to connect people who are passionate about their homes with Habitat’s vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
