MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN – The Marquette Downtown Development Authority has extended the deadline for artists to submit original artwork for the 2014 Blueberry Festival Poster contest. Entries are now due on Friday, May 9. The contest is open to artists of all ages and skill levels.
The selected design will be reproduced as a full-color, limited edition 10 x 13 inch poster. Original artwork in any medium is welcome but should not be larger than 11 x 17 inches and must not have been previously reproduced.
New this year, the winning entry will be determined by a combined score based on an online vote open to the public and a panel of judges comprised of local artists, downtown business owners and public officials. Voting will take place Monday, May 12, through Wednesday, May 28, at www.downtownmarquette.org. All entries will be on display at the Marquette Arts & Culture Center, 217 North Front Street, throughout that time period for those who would like to view and vote for the artwork in person. In exchange for the rights to the selected artwork, the winner will receive $150 in gift certificates from downtown businesses and 10 posters. The wining poster will debut prior to the festival, which is scheduled for Friday, July 25.
Entries can be delivered or mailed to the Marquette Downtown Development Authority, 203 S. Front St., Suite 1-B, Marquette, MI, 49855. A complete list of rules and entry forms are available at www.downtownmarquette.org.
