April 24, 2014 — All roadside parks operated by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) in the Upper Peninsula will remain closed until remaining snow melts, facilities thaw and water recedes. The parks are tentatively set to open May 12.
“We always try to reopen roadside parks early in the spring whenever possible,” said MDOT Superior Region Transportation Maintenance Coordinator Charlie Heidt. “This year, due to the late spring, we have decided to hold off on opening the parks until a little later.”
The parks had been scheduled to open on April 28.
