CITIZENS PETITION MARQUETTE CITY COMMISSION REGARDING PUBLIC LAKESHORE PRESERVATION

A group of concerned Marquette city residents, the Marquette Citizens for City Lakeshore Preservation, have started an online petition in regards to the City of Marquette Commission approved Upper Peninsula Community Rowing Club facility to be built on the public lakeshore of Founder’s Landing in city of Marquette.

The online and paper petition states that, “Consistent with the Lakeshore Development Task Force Final Report that concluded no development should occur east of Lakeshore Boulevard to the waterfront within the City of Marquette boundaries, we, the undersigned request that the City Commission withdraw their support for the Upper Peninsula Community Rowing Club facility at Founder’s Landing and conduct public forums to address non-motorized watercraft needs and location of such facilities within the city”. Citizens wishing to view the petition or sign the petition should log on to https://www.change.org/petitions/city-of-marquette-city-commission-please-withdraw-commission-support-for-the-upper-peninsula-community-rowing-club-facility-at-founder-s-landing-and-conduct-public-forums. The Marquette Citizens for City Lakeshore Preservation asks concerned citizens to sign the petition and contact the Marquette City Commission with their concerns.
