MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN – Great Lakes Recovery Centers (GLRC) would like to invite everybody to a free screening of The Anonymous People, a newly released documentary film about the over 23 million Americans living in long term recovery from addiction to alcohol and other drugs. Sponsored by the Marquette Substance Abuse and Violence Prevention Coalition (MC2) and the Peter White Public Library (PWPL), the event takes place on April 8, 2014 at 7PM in the Community Room at the PWPL.
This incredibly powerful movie features prominent people speaking publicly about their recovery – people like actress Kristen Johnston (The Exes and Third Rock From the Sun), former NBA star Chris Herren, Miss USA 2006 Tara Conner and former congressman Patrick Kennedy. GLRC shares in the goal of the movie, to create an advocacy platform sturdy enough that people can step out of the shadows and talk about their lives in recovery, without stigma or shame.
Our screening will include light refreshments, a resource table for those interested in learning more about treatment options in the area and a Q & A session with GLRC professional counselors. Folks can see a trailer at manyfaces1voice.org.
