MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN – Readers Theater welcomes the public to join in a reading of “Hay Fever” by Noel Coward on Thursday, April 17 at 7:00pm in the Peter White Public Library Shiras Room.
The comic play, “Hay Fever” written in 1924 and is best described as a cross between high farce and a comedy of manners. The play is set in an English country house in the 1920s, and deals with the four eccentric members of the Bliss family and their outlandish behavior when they each invite a guest to spend the weekend. The self-centered behavior of the hosts finally drives their guests to flee while the Blisses are so engaged in a family row that they do not notice their guests’ furtive departure.
Readers Theater is a group of adults, who are interested in drama and are willing and able to read a scripted role. They meet on the third Thursday of each month to read plays for enjoyment. New readers are always welcome.
