Motor Carrier Officers to Conduct Statewide Inspections During Operation Safe Driver Week

LANSING, MI. –

This week, motor carrier officers from the Michigan State Police, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division (MSP/CVED) will be conducting commercial vehicle inspections across the state as part of the annual Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Operation Safe Driver Week.

Increased traffic safety enforcement and outreach are key components of this initiative, aiming to deter unsafe driving behaviors among commercial motor vehicle drivers. Officers will focus on driver behavior violations that lead to vehicle crashes, such as speeding, following too closely, improper lane changes, reckless or careless driving, and texting/hand-held phone use while driving.

During these inspections, commercial motor vehicle drivers will be required to provide operating credentials and hours-of-service documentation. Inspectors will also be vigilant for any signs of alcohol or drug impairment.
