Marquette – DocuMonday, in conjunction with the “Let’s Talk About It: Muslim Journeys” series, will screen the film “Prince Among Slaves” on Monday, February 3 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.
Dr. Alan S. Willis, Assistant Professor of History at NMU will give a brief introduction and lead a question and answer session following the film.
The film tells the true story of a slave ship sets sail in 1788 from the Gambia river with hundreds of men women and children bound in chains headed for American shores. An African prince, 26 year old Abdul Rahman, endures the humiliation of slavery without losing his dignity or hope for freedom.
