The Chilling Numbers about Frozen Pipes

Severe winter weather is continuing to impact millions of people around the country, putting many home’s and business’ pipes at risk of freezing.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued freezing weather alerts throughout the Northeast, while wind chill advisories have been issued in the Northern Plains. The severe winter weather is expected to continue tonight and into Tuesday morning, reports NWS.

As temperatures go down, your property’s risks of frozen pipes increases. If your pipes freeze, it can often lead to a pipe burst and significant water damage.

Despite the current cold temperatures, there are still some last-minute actions you can take to reduce your risks of costly damage. Find out how you can avoid frozen pipes by using the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety’s (IBHS) guidance at https://www.disastersafety.org/freezing_weather/prevent-frozen-pipes/.
