Marquette, Michigan – On October 8, 2013, Marquette Area Public Schools inducted two new members to the Pendill Wall of Excellence: Sallie Chisholm and Gordy LeDuc. The “wall”, which is located on the first floor corridor between the gymnasium and cafeteria at the high school, honors outstanding MAPS alumni (graduates of Graveraet or Marquette Senior High School). Inductees must not only have shown success in their careers but also have demonstrated acts of giving back “for the betterment of mankind”. There are now nine outstanding alumni enshrined on the wall: coaches, scientists, authors, philanthropists, teachers, and an architect.
The Education Foundation, which chairs the review committee, seeks nominations from the general public for the next cycle. Anyone can make a nomination of an individual they feel is worthy of the honor. Nomination forms, with criteria, can be picked up at the Superintendent’s office or by calling: (906) 225-4200. Nominations must be submitted in written form. If a nominee is deceased, please indicate this and also provide contact person’s information.
Nominations must be received by Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2014. As the holiday season approaches, and families return home to Marquette, we ask the public to consider nominating an outstanding MAPS alumni for recognition on the Pendill Wall of Excellence.
