MARQUETTE, Mich.— The Marquette General Women’s and Children’s Center, in conjunction with Kohl’s Department Stores and Marquette Mountain, will host the Kohl’s Cares Heads U.P. on Safety event starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, in the Marquette Mountain Ski Lodge.
This free event features hands-on learning and valuable information for families on ski and snowboard safety. The first 175 children, ages 13 and under, will receive a certificate for a free ski and snowboard helmet, and National Ski Patrol personnel will provide a ski and snowboard safety program. Children must be present for the safety program in order to receive a helmet.
Kohl’s representatives will also present a check in the amount of $18,540 to the Marquette General Women’s and Children’s Center as part of its Kohl’s Cares® program. The money is used to support two Heads U.P. on Safety events that are held in the summer and fall, respectively. At these events, children and youth learn proper helmet safety for biking and snow sports, and have the opportunity to receive a free helmet. The check presentation will take place at 10:30 a.m. in the Marquette Mountain Ski Lodge.
Since 2003, when the Marquette store opened, Kohl’s has donated more than $196,000 to the Marquette General Women’s and Children’s Center.
