MARQUETTE, MI – Saturday, October 19th, 2013 from 12:00-3:00pm
International Archaeology Day focuses on getting young people interested in history through archaeology. This Kids’ Fair will introduce youth to archaeology through handson activities, storytelling, games and displays. Local experts will be here to share their work (artifacts!) and expertise. Family friendly event for all ages. Fair included with the cost of admission; come discover archaeology throughout the whole museum on this day, through our galleries and many interactive fair booths. Some activities include:
Displays of artifacts both old and “new” and the stories behind them, learn about local sites and identifying, play hands-on games and challenge puzzles, explore myths and legends that have some basis in research, make your own pictograph and a clay pot, win prizes, enjoy the extensive museum galleries and even take a short trip to a local site to learn more.
