MARQUETTE, Mich. — A new exhibition at Northern Michigan University’s DeVos Art Museum seeks to answer the question, “What are young photographers up to in the 21st century?” The exhibit is titled “reGeneration2: Tomorrow’s Photographers Today” and runs through Sunday, April 7.
The exhibit displays were produced by the Musee de l’Elysee in Lausanne, Switzerland. The museum selected promising candidates from some 700 entries submitted by 120 of the world’s top photography schools. The exhibit is visiting cities across Northern America, Europe and Asia.
“This exhibition is a wonderful chance to see the perspectives of our ever-changing world from the viewpoint of 80 young photographers from a variety of countries,” said Melissa Matuscak, director and curator at the DeVos Art Museum. “Artists from more than 30 countries are represented in the exhibition, from as far as China and Russia to as near as Canada and Peru. Seeing the variety of work being made my artists who have recently received MFA degrees is a little bit like looking into the future of the next generation of photographers.”
The DeVos Art Museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and Friday, noon to
