Calendar – Films/Documentaries – Afternoon Classic Films – Mar. 4

Marquette – Afternoon Classic Films will present a screening of “”The Lion in Winter”” on Monday, March 4 at 1:30 p.m in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.

This historical drama, set in 1183 AD. revolves around aging King Henry II and his three sons who all want to inherit the throne. They and his estranged wife, Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine, variously plot to force him to commit to a choice of who will be the next king. Meanwhile, Henry’s mistress adds to the drama by demanding either a wedding or the return of her dowry.

The film was released in color in 1968 and runs for 134 minutes.
