Local families and visitors will have a warm place to hang out and have fun before watching the sled dog teams leave downtown Marquette the evening of Friday, February 15th. The Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum will hold the Third Annual U.P. 200 Family Warm Up Party from 4:00 until 6:30 that evening.
There will be a slice of pizza, plus a homemade cookie for $1.00, along with free hot chocolate.
According to Museum Education Coordinator Jim Edwards the event will be fun for all.
“Families can play mushing games, make crafts, eat and get warm before the race begins,” Edwards said.
The Museum is located just a few blocks from the start of the U.P. 200 and coming down early will help secure parking on that busy evening. As the starting ceremonies for the U.P. 200 begin everyone at the Warm Up Party can bundle up and head up to Washington Street to watch the sled dog teams fly out of town.
The event is free with regular admission to the Museum or with a membership.
