The Nutcracker Returns To Kaufman Auditorium December 1st

and a Legion of Rats! See them all swoop and soar across the Kaufman
stage in America’s favorite holiday event! This ballet fantasy
features a cast of over 100 beautifully costumed dancers, reveling
Tchaikovsky’s beloved score. Come and join Marquette dancers on an
enchanting journey through a landscape of yuletide dreams. Bring the
entire family!

Kaufman Auditorium and the Second Skin Shop have teamed up to bring a
community dance performance of The Nutcracker on Friday, November 30,
2012 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at
Kaufman Auditorium, 611 N. Front St, Marquette, Michigan. The
production is produced by Kaufman Auditorium and Second Skin Shop with
sponsorship by Lake Superior Youth Theatre.

The show is choreographed by Jessica Carpenter, Kristen Halsey,
Alexandria Holley, Camilla Mingay and Jessica Pesola. The production
is directed by Camilla Mingay. Special guest dancers include Liza
Hunter, The Beladinas, Marquette Folk Dancers, Superior Dance Academy,
New Attitudes Dance Studios, Marquette Center for Dance, and Dawn Dott
Dance Studios. The show is directed by Camilla Mingay, who was also
the inspiration behind this community production of The Nutcracker
which played in 2008 and 2010.

The magic begins with Clara, played by Molly Lawton and her sister
Francesca, played by Kayla Grugin, waiting for guests to arrive at
their annual holiday party. Their parents decorate the tree and dance
along with the other guests, including the Northern Michigan
University Folk Dancers. Suddenly the guests are taken by surprise
when a mysterious guest comes in, but are relieved when they find it
to be Clara’s Godfather Drosselmeier, played by Gregory Michael
Shimon, and his nephew, play by Jack Major. Godfather Drosselmeier is
known for the magical surprises, including making dolls and toys
dance, and gives Clara the best gift of all….a nutcracker, play by
NMU Senior Michael Skrobeck. However as siblings sometimes do,
Francesca in a fit of jealousy breaks Clara’s beloved Nutcracker.
Drosselmeier’s nephew is presented as the object of Clara’s
interest. When she dreams, he becomes the Nutcracker Prince. The
Prince then escorts Clara through the Snow Kingdom and the Kingdom of
Sweets. Faith Cole plays the Sugarplum Fairy, Tim Bleau plays the
Cavalier, Alycia Heckathorn plays the Snow Queen and Charlie Thomas as
Dew Drop, among several outstanding performances. While all ages are
encouraged to come, at each event, children will have the chance to
meet and pose for photos with the members of the cast after the show.

Seating is reserved and no refunds or exchanges will be accepted.
Tickets are $12 per General Public, $10 per Senior and $8 per
Student/NMU Student in advance (add $3 at the door); all seats are
reserved. Tickets are on sale at all NMU EZ Ticket Outlets, online at
