Marquette, MI- The City of Marquette Office of Arts & Culture is now accepting project proposals for the Tenth Annual and final City of Marquette Art Week, scheduled for June 23rd through June 28th, 2025. Local artists, organizations, and businesses are invited to participate in this week-long celebration of arts and culture, featuring concerts, workshops, performances, exhibits, and more–free for the community to enjoy!
A Decade of Art Week
Since its inception in 2015, Art Week has grown from an extension of the Art Stroll into a dynamic festival showcasing the creative depth of Marquette’s arts community and rethink how we utilize public spaces. Over the past ten years, Art Week has hosted over 330 events and involved nearly 500 artists and 90 local businesses and organizations, fostering collaboration and creative engagement across the city.
The Last Chapter: Building on Success
Over the years, Art Week has inspired and highlighted collaborations, programs, and partnerships that now thrive on their own! This evolution shows that their work started by Art Week is ready to grow beyond the event. The mission of Art Week–to grow and empower a vibrant community through arts and culture–remains unchanged. The City Office of Arts & Culture is excited to focus their energy on year-round efforts that build deeper, more lasting connections and better integrate arts and culture into the fabric of Marquette’s daily life. In the coming months, partners and community members will be invited to participate in shaping the direction of the next decade of arts and culture in the Marquette community.
Call for Art Week 2025 Projects: ‘Stories’
In celebration and reflection on the past decade, Art Week 2025 will center around the theme Stories. Artists and organizers are encouraged to submit projects that share a meaningful narrative that explores our community– whether personal, historical, cultural, or imaginative. Proposals may also revisit successful part Art Week projects to honor the festival’s legacy.
Thanks to support from the Michigan Arts & Culture Council, regrant funding is available for projects that align with Art Week’s mission. Applicants may request up to $400 in financial assistance. All project proposals, regardless of funding requests, must be submitted by Friday, March 7th, 2025.
A Lasting Legacy
While this will be the final Art Week, the spirit of the event will live on through the connections and inspiration it has cultivated. The Office of Arts & Culture remains committed to fostering creative opportunities in Marquette, working to integrate arts and culture into community events, public spaces, and year-round initiatives.
