Calendar – Theater – Readers Theater to Read “The Tea House of August Moon” – Aug. 16

Join Readers Theater for a reading of “”The Teahouse of the August Moon”” by John Patrick on Thursday, August 16 at 7 p.m. in the Shiras Room of the Peter White Public Library.

The Teahouse of the August Moon was adapted in 1952 by playwright John Patrick from the novel of the same name by Vern Sneider. The play satirizes the U.S. occupation and Americanization of the island of Okinawa following the end of WWII in 1945.
A comedy film version of the play premiered in 1956 starring Glenn Ford and Marlon Brando.

Peter White Public Library’s Readers Theater is a group of adults, who are interested in drama and are willing and able to read a scripted role. They meet on the third Thursday of each month to read plays for enjoyment. New members are always welcome.
