Marquette – The Afternoon Classic Film Series will offer a screening of the film “The More the Merrier” on Monday, July 2 at 1:30 pm in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.
During World War II there is was severe housing shortage everywhere, especially in Washington, D.C. where Connie Milligan rents an apartment. Believing it to be her patriotic duty, Connie offers to sublet half of her apartment, fully expecting a suitable female tenant. What she gets instead is mischievous, middle-aged Benjamin Dingle. Dingle talks her into subletting to him and then promptly sublets half of his half to young, irreverent Joe Carter, creating a situation tailor-made for comedy and romance.
The 1943 film was nominated for six Academy Awards, is shown in the original black and white and runs for 104 minutes.
There is no admission charge thanks to sponsorship by the Friends of the Peter White Public Library. For more information visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4318.
