The City of Marquette Presents ‘A Vision of Marquette; Community Photo Contest’

MARQUETTE- The City of Marquette Planning Department is searching for pictures of Marquette to use in the Community Master Plan update! Submitted pictures should capture the essence of Marquette with positive images of the community. The winning pictures will be printed, framed, and prominently displayed in City Hall and the Peter White Public Library as well as in the Master Plan.

Photographers are invited to submit photos and selected photos will be enlarged and exhibited at City Hall during August 2012, at the Peter White Public Library (PWPL) during September, and at a community planning event on November 8th (place to be determined). A public reception will be held on Thursday, September 27th at the PWPL. The same selected images will be used in the updated Community Master Plan, which will be published in 2013.

Photo submissions are open to any subject matter, but the photo submitted must have been taken within the Marquette City limits and capture a positive image that expresses the photographer’s idea of something essential to the experience of being in Marquette. Submissions will be accepted between May 25th and July 10th.

The City of Marquette will publish a selection of photos to the online photo-sharing service Flickr, including photos not selected to be exhibited as stated above, with use rights reserved to the photographer. If you would like for your photo to be published on Flickr you must agree to it with a signature on your contest application form.

For more information on this event call the Information Services Department at 228-0418 for Sean Hobbins or e-mail shobbins@mqtcty.org.
