Marquette/Alger Counties – The Marquette-Alger Reading Council has begun their annual Gift of Reading Project.
The public is asked to donate new books which will be given to needy families at Christmas time and throughout the year.
New books are also distributed to the Salvation Army, St. Vincent DePaul, local youth homes, the Jacobetti Center, the public health department, the Women's Center and many other locations.
Local schools and libraries, as well as book stores will serve as drop-off locations.
Monetary donations can be made to MARC-Gift of Reading, P.O. Box 1084, Marquette. Last day for donations is December 12. For more information, call Mary Davis at 225-4399.
