MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Lisa Coombs-Gerou, Executive Director of the Marquette County YMCA, joined Sunny 101.9’s Mark and Walt in the Morning to prove that the “Y” ain’t what it used to be! She told us about a series of planned events and activities that prove the YMCA has become much more than another gym.
She discussed a “100 Yard Dash” program that features a 100 yard long garden being used as a learning tool for area youth to understand gardening and healthy food production. They are also holding a special program that is planned to teach financial responsibility to teenagers. Both programs are designed to teach good habits at an early age that will transfer over into the student’s adult lives.
