Marquette – In recognition of May as Mental Health month, the Peter White Public Library will screen the movie “Shine” on Thursday, May 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room. The film stars Academy Award Best Actor winner Geoffrey Rush, Armin Mueller-Stahl and Justin Braine.
Based on the true story about Australian pianist David Helfgott, the movie charts David’s traumatic early years growing up as a child prodigy pianist, his institutionalization and ultimate return to the concert hall. The film touches on themes as diverse as the nature of genius, the triumph over adversity and the destructive power of love. This 1996 film is rated PG-13 and runs for 105 minutes.
