Calendar – Education – French Canadians in Michigan Lecture – Mar. 24

Marquette – Dr. Jean LaMarre, Royal Military College of Canada will offer a presentation on “French Canadians in Michigan” on Thursday, March 24 at 7 p.m. in Mead Auditorium, West Science building at NMU.

Dr. LaMarre’s lecture will focus on the immigration of French Canadians to the Michigan, particularly the Upper Peninsula. He will discuss the forces that led to the emigration from Quebec and other parts of Canada and why French Canadians chose to come to the Upper Peninsula. His lecture will focus on communities that had prevalent French Canadian populations, in particular, Lake Linden.

Admission is free. This lecture is being funded by the Province of Quebec, Chicago Delegation.
